MB-75 Flush Mounting Bracket

If you are going to mount the M802 control head and/or the speaker (one kit needed for each) in a panel, you want these. If your not sure - order them anyway - we'll take them back. Better to have them on hand if you need them then to try and find them when you discover you do. The same kit also works for the M502/M602 Icom VHF Radios.

DSC Watch Antenna Kit

The M802 is the FIRST marine SSB for recreational vessels with Digital Selective Calling. This is the same in principal as the DSC on your VHF (you DO have a DSC VHF, don't you??? Starting next year, vessels outside of US waters are no longer required to monitor channel 16 and DSC is the ONLY reliable way to hail them on VHF. It is also the only reliable way to hail commercial vessels inside US waters as they are required to have TWO DSC VHF radios on the bridge that cannot be turned off).

Our exclusive DSC Antenna kit includes a whip similar in construction to a masthead VHF antenna ( No - you CAN'T use your VHF antenna - this is HF - remember?) only with a 49" whip. The kit also comes with mounting brackets for the whip to accommodate 7/8" or 1" rails, 15 meters of coaxial cable and a 5 meter cable to connect between your NMEA - GPS Data-bus and the main unit of the M802.

GAM Split Lead SSB antenna - alternative to insulated backstay.

This innovative antenna simply slips over the backstay (up to 3/8" diameter) to turn your rig into an effective SSB antenna. Click here for brochure.

Note: If you order this item with "The Works" M802 or M710 package, the 20' of GTO-15 that is part of that package will not be supplied and $17 will be deducted from the package price. GTO-15 is NOT needed with this antenna.

This 3-piece whip is finished in high quality gel coat and is comparable to antennas from other manufacturers antennas that sell for a lot more. Ships UPS. Matches VHF 21-5 found in VHF Store. Use 112A mount below.

Note: If you order this item with "The Works" M802 or M710 package, only 10' of GTO-15 that is part of that package will be supplied and $8.50 will be deducted from the package price. With a whip antenna, 10' should be more then adequate. If it isn't, then we need to talk as something may not be correct with your installation plan.

112A Mounting Hardware for Whip

Stainless Steel Swivel Mount and reinforced Nylon Upper Support Bracket. Normally - the upper bracket is mounted to a vertical surface about 3' up from the base. It can be adopted to other installations using stainless awning fittings to make 2 struts to form a "tripod" support - the base of the whip forming the third leg.

Copper Strap

25 FT Roll of 3" wide .011" thick (not the aluminum foil thickness .003" stuff you find elsewhere) .

$80
Sintered Bronze Ground Plate

Connect these to the antenna tuner ONLY with the above strap. We have been recommending 2 of these 3" x 12" x 3/8" plates (the single larger plate - 6" x 18" is too large to conform to most hull curvature - but can get it if you want it - $400) for about 5 years now and have had no issues with grounding. We are not saying other ground systems won't work - it is just that we can't tell you if it will or won't, and we can't tell you how to install it. Two 5/16" bronze bolts fasten the plates to the hull (4 bolts on the large plate) and provide a connection point inside the hull for the copper strap. We recommend mounting one in front of the other as close to the tuner as possible so that they will remain in contact with sea-water.

Ground Plate connection kit

We kept getting calls asking exactly HOW these plates were to be installed - in particular about the grooved nylon washer that is provided with the plates. We asked our supplier to include a sheet with a diagram of how the plates were to be installed. We asked our supplier to include a sheet with a diagram of how the plates were to be installed. We asked our supplier to include a sheet with a diagram of how the plates were to be installed. We asked our supplier to include a sheet with a diagram of how the plates were to be installed - again. Finally, we got tired of asking and made the drawing our self. When we did that, we realized there were additional items needed to properly connect the strap to the plates that were not included - so we made up this kit. Enough for two plates (or one of the 6" x 18" plates).

$19

Stock and Custom Length Coaxial Cable Assembly

Constructed from Highest Quality Low Loss Cable available. Smaller - .24" - 40% smaller then RG-8U. Weighs 1/3 the weight of RG-8U (RG-8U weighs .11# per foot! That is a LOT of weight aloft in a masthead antenna installation). But only .2 DB more loss per 100' @ 150 MHz (VHF Marine channels) then RG-8U - in other words - a negligible difference.

Comes with special "bullet" connector on both ends (that will pass through a 3/8" opening) that connect to the equipment using a special low loss adapter. The PL259 connector is the standard connector used for EVERY fixed mount VHF & SSB and all VHF antennas. Available in stock lengths of 33', 50',  66' & 100'  or a custom length you specify. Also - you need to specify connectors for each end.

Note: Custom length cables are built to order - please allow 14 days for delivery. Please measure and order carefully. Because they are built to order, once ordered, your order cannot be canceled or changed unless the supplier cannot deliver them within the 14 day time period. Absolutely NO refunds on cables that are under construction or have been shipped.

GTO-15 High Voltage Insulated Wire

This is the wire that is used to connect the antenna tuner to the backstay. At first glance, it looks like coax, but it only has a single conductor surrounded by 15,000 volt insulation (the "15" in GTO-15) and a UV-resistant jacket. Unlike coax - it has no metal shield or braid. It connects to the tuner with a normal ring terminal (provided with Icom tuners). We found the easiest way to connect it to the backstay is by stripping back about 2" of insulation and clamping it with 2 small hose clamps. With swaged-on insulators, it is best to connect to the swage. You might also want to include a drip loop - run the cable up the backstay an inch or two then make a small loop and head back down - this prevents water migrating down between the jacket and the insulator (really - it happens). Cover the connection with rigging tape.
